Restoring: to bring back to a state of health, soundness, or vigor (dictionary.com)

Restoring Honor: to bring back the spiritual health of our people; to bring back honesty, fairness, and integrity.

As we walked across the grounds where the Washington Monument towered above our nation’s capital, there was a calmness in the air that I had never experienced in this historic city. There was a stillness that seemed to surround the area around the Mall. These scriptures come to mind:

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14)

“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” (Psalm 37:7)

“Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

I was born minutes from the District of Columbia border in Silver Spring, Maryland. As a kid, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the many historical sites and museums more times then I can count. Did I take it for granted? Probably. Do I recognize how special those day trips were today? Absolutely!

these days. On Saturday, August 28th, 2010, I watched as hundreds of thousands of people began to fill the area between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. They came to help restore honor.

We all have fallen short of honor at times of our lives. Some, like myself, have failed at that more then others. But this event was not just “a day in the park”. This was a moment of awakening. And while there will be those who seek to tarnish everything and anybody who honors God, there were 500,00+ people who went back to their neighborhoods and spoke of the truth that was spoken that day.

If 500,000 people tell twenty of their friends about the truth of restoring honor that was spoken, then 10 million people will hear the truth. But hearts need to be open to be changed. And if hearts are not changed, then people won’t change.

Six hours a day, 180 days a year, 13 years- kindergarten through grade twelve. At that rate, your child is in the hands of other people for over 14,000 hours- at the most crucial moments of their lives.

As a parent, if you are blessed, you may eat a meal with your children, help them with their homework, and maybe spend an hour watching a television program- and that’s when they are in elementary school. Good luck getting more time once they hit middle and high school (if they even want to be in the same room with you).

An hour here, an hour there- a few hours more on the weekend. But the reality is, you are trusting complete strangers to help develop, teach, and train your children to formulate ideas, and even opinions. Can I ask the question again? Who is teaching your children?

Thankfully, we have wonderful teachers who are doing what teachers are supposed to do- teach our kids to read, write, how to add and subtract, learn basic problem solving skills. Of course there are the teachers who teach our kids how to appreciate art and music, and maybe even encourage them to become artists and musicians themselves. These are what great teachers do.

But what if you found out that your child’s teacher was bringing their politics to the classroom? What if those politics were being brought to the classroom at the request of a powerful, tax funded organization that were more interested in seeing social justice topics taught rather then learning about our country’s Founder’s idea of “Individual Liberty and Freedom”?  What if the people who you were trusting to teach and help grow your children were answering to an organization that recommended Marxist activism books as “recommended reading”?

Sadly, the above scenario is being played out in public schools across the United States. The organization who has hijacked our classrooms is the National Education Association (NEA). While not all teachers are members, and thankfully many have declined invitations to join, the NEA still holds a powerful hand in our public schools.

The fact that Sal Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals is “reccomended reading” pretty much says it all. The NEA website reads:

“NEA recommends the following Saul Alinsky books to those members of our Association who are involved in grassroots organizing…Saul Alinsky is widely recognized as the father of, and pre-imminent expert in, grassroots organizing, which is why we recommend that ARs (Association Representatives) and local leaders become familiar with his theories & materials.”

Rules for Radicals has been the “playbook” of the far left and Marxist activists everywhere. A book that is dedicated to Lucifer (I wish I was joking), and reminds people that “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon”; we get a view into the minds and hearts of the cult that is the NEA. There is something ironic about an organization that shines the light on the problem of “bullying” in schools, yet are bullies themselves. It would be funny if it wasn’t so unnerving.

Reading through the NEA “Press Center” is like reading a Democratic Party campaign website. Here are some of the recent headlines:

“NEA Applauds Speaker Pelosi for taking historic step”
“NEA praises Senate…”
“NEA to participate in ‘One Nation March’” (social justice/environmental/union march)
“NEA stresses the importance of foreign languages and global competence” (global awareness crap)
“NEA names Maryland’s Martin O’Malley ‘America’s Greatest Education Governor”  (as mayor of Baltimore, O’Malley helped take Baltimore further into “heroin hell”)
“NEA condemns Arizona immigration law” (education, immigration- same thing…right?)
“President Obama says children need teachers in the classroom”
“D.C. voucher bill proposes more of the same, failed policies” (vouchers to NEA are like a holy water to a vampire- they work)

We could go on and on, but the above list of NEA news items sums up who the NEA are- a political organization. There is no place for political organization in our public schools. Do you want your children learning how to read, write, and be able to balance a check book one day? Or would you like them to know how to work the system, and use left-wing strategies to undermine “the other team” so they can “get theirs” Alinksy-style?

Our schools have become hijacked by the left through the NEA. It’s time to clean house- de-fund the NEA.

The progressive left have done a fine job scrubbing the textbooks students use of actual history. The mainstream media has acted much like a “teacher’s assistant” in furthering the cause of “revising the history books” to make the left look like they just hopped out of the proverbial “we used to be a bunch of bigots” shower.

The progressive movement, particularly through the Democratic Party, made it their mission many years ago to scare African-Americans from voting Republican. They founded, and used, the KKK to “remind” African-Americans that they best not vote Republican. But they also “reminded” white voters why they shouldn’t vote Republican (because that’s who African-Americans supported). My how times have changed…or have they?

The Democrats are at it again. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) told a group of mostly Hispanic voters, “I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican”.

It almost seems like ole’ Harry wants Hispanic voters to go back to their neighborhoods, family, and friends to remind them who they need not support. If left can’t beat you honestly, they pull out the tactics of the past- scare them into voting for you! Way to go Harry! I can hear the ghosts of the racist Democrats past applauding …

As I viewed the program and a series of images flashed by as it segued into the next scene I thought, “Was that what I thought it was?”

Thanks to digital cable, I rewound and sure enough, the “Don’t Tread on Me”/”Liberty or Death” logo was juxtaposed with the racist “White Power” logo. This occurred at least two separate times during the program.

Unless someone has been living under a rock, it’s common knowledge that the “Don’t Tread on Me” snake logo has become the un-official Tea Party logo. The mainstream media has been pushing the message that the Tea Party is filled with a bunch of racist, right wing extremists- like the ones featured in this episode of Gangland.

Anti-Tea Party propaganda or innocent (and really poor) editorial decision?

Their problem: while actual racism exists, those racists do not control the dialogue anymore. They are not taken serious, and they are certainly not in the majority (or even close to that). There was a time when politicians, employers, and even teachers could exhibit racist behaviors without any repercussions. But we live in a time where there is a level of new accountability among people. As a society, racism is not acceptable. Some might even say we have become so sensitive that we blow some situations out of proportion. But that shows the awareness that exists on the issue of racism. We’re not perfect, but we’ve made strides.

If we have come so far, even electing an African-American to the highest office in the land, we should be celebrating…right? Aside from inauguration day, relations seem a bit tense these days. In fact, by watching the evening news in 2010, one could come to the conclusion that we are going backwards in the area of race relations.

Social Justice, Social Divide

The left have have written the book on exploiting racism for votes, and in turn, power gains through votes. Two words that will keep this country from ever achieving racial harmony: “Social Justice”. If you listen to anyone involved in the “social justice” movement, you will quickly realize that there is no end to “social injustice”. In fact, the idea of “social justice” centers on the idea that one group (the oppressor) must pay back another group (the oppressed) for things, in many cases, that happened decades and even centuries ago. It is a bit like taking revenge for something over and over again, generation after generation.

The left, through the idea of “social justice”, requires there to be an oppressor to their oppressed. Without an oppressor, there is nothing to demonize- to fight against. Progressives rely on an ideological “dragon” to fight so they can get approval on moving policies forward. In a time when the majority of the public is not getting behind the progressive agenda, they need to create a “monster” for their “Knight in shining armor” to slay with his “sword of social justice”- regulation, legislation, and re-distribution of wealth.

Who or what group is a threat to the progressives carrying out their agenda? In other words, who is the “evil dragon attacking the people in the village”? The Tea Party, Glenn Beck, Fox News, Andrew Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, and even the Founding Fathers (to name a few). The progressives can’t fight “their dragons” by debating them on ideas. They have realized that when Americans learn what “change” really means, they lose the debate. So they throw logic and class out the window and do the only thing they know best- create fear, anger, and divide using the thing that know goes right to the gut: racism.

Crying “racism” is like throwing a “political grenade”. With a 24 hour news cycle on the web, a news story, true or not, can live on for years on the web. If the left, using the MSM, can make the Tea Party into racists- at least in a segment of the population, then they feel they have free reign to “slay the beast”. If that means using regulation to shut down cable news programs, talk radio, and blogs – so be it. It is a noble cause in their eyes- this is social justice.

Familiar Tactics

Ironically, these are tactics that were used by racists against Martin Luther King, Jr. and his supporters. They needed to turn MLK into the bad guy. They used fear, mis-information, and lies, to try and silence his message. In the end- the truth stood tall.

As we come up on a mid-term election, with more minorities in powerful positions in business and politics then ever before, including  the Commander in Chief, the race baiting has begun- and is in full force. The worst thing you can call someone in the year 2010 is “a racist”. Anyone can step out of the woodwork, make a call to MSNBC and say that “Joe Politician is a racist!”. Then the MSM will take the bait- and they will run with it . By the time “Joe Politician” or “Bob the Talkshow host” is able to prove the allegations against him are wrong, the damage has been done.

In a time when it is painfully obvious that the MSM’s “messiah”, Barack Obama, is seeing his popularity crumble before their eyes, they are working overtime to paint the people who are speaking out against his policies as the worst of the worst- “they’re racists”, “extremists”, or they have “connections to white supremacy groups”. It doesn’t matter if 99.9% of Tea Party members are not racist. Nor will they point out racism within their own ranks.  The facts and truth have no meaning in propaganda- and that is exactly what the MSM is taking part in.

The left have a challenge on their hands. They have continuously painted themselves as the “oppressed” through the social justice movement. But now their guy is running the show- their entire team is running the show! The truth be told, if there is anyone who is in the position to be the “oppressors”, it is Barack Obama and gang. The left has a “super majority”- they have been passing wildly unpopular legislation against the will of the public.

Remember, the MSM has already proved that they are committed to sweeping stories under the rug. The MSM have already shown us that they have no interest in reporting news, but rather, promoting the agenda of President Obama and the left. It’s not a matter of “are they doing it”, but rather, how far they are willing to take it.

Like the “Boy who cried Wolf” fable, the left have exploited a very real issue, racism,  to an extent that when real racism occurs, the public becomes numb to the cries.  There is some irony behind the fact that the DNC, MSM, and left in general, have exhibited traits very similar to racists. They have judged an entire population of people based on stereotypes, trumped up fear and false accusations. The Democratic Party perfected this with the KKK many moons ago (things really do come in circles).

Those who identify with the Tea Party stand for very simple things that are grounded in common sense, and have absolutely nothing to do with race:

• small limited government (when has an overbearing, over powerful, over reaching government ever worked out well for the people in the end?)

• fiscal responsibility (if it’s good for our homes, then it should be good for our government)

• defend the Constitution (more freedom and liberty for We the People- that’s all citizens of all color of the United States).

It’s that simple. And that is exactly why it scares them. The Tea Party movement is so un-concerned with skin color that, dare I say, there are actually African-Americans who attend, lead, and speak at Tea Parties. The left knows that you know this. We live in a world where more people have more access to up to the minute information. We don’t need to rely on the MSM to educate us on the truth. Anyone who actually attends a Tea Party will recognize that it’s not about race. But that doesn’t align with the message they need to propagate.

The Tea Party message of fiscal responsibility, small government, and more freedom is shared by the majority of Americans. This fact is a threat to the those on the left who seek to hold on to, and gain, more power. In the end, progressives realize their message of big government, more regulations, and less individual freedom, won’t jive with majority of Americans (and why would it?).

So they must shuffle the deck of “left wing playing cards” and drop the “race card” on the table. Facts and reality don’t matter. They only need a willing media to ride with the story for a news cycle or two. If the left have cast doubt in the minds of independent voters, as well as new, un-informed voters, they have succeeded.

But we will do everything in our power to restore the truth at every turn, bump in the road, and new day- God Bless!
