Subliminal “Tea Party is racist” propaganda or bad editorial decisions?

While viewing an episode of the History Channel program Gangland, we couldn’t help but notice an interesting pairing of images. The recent episode titled “Army of Hate” focused on a racist “white power” group who engaged in armed bank robberies to fund their hateful “takeover of America” back in the 1980′s and 90′s.

As I viewed the program and a series of images flashed by as it segued into the next scene I thought, “Was that what I thought it was?”

Thanks to digital cable, I rewound and sure enough, the “Don’t Tread on Me”/”Liberty or Death” logo was juxtaposed with the racist “White Power” logo. This occurred at least two separate times during the program.

Unless someone has been living under a rock, it’s common knowledge that the “Don’t Tread on Me” snake logo has become the un-official Tea Party logo. The mainstream media has been pushing the message that the Tea Party is filled with a bunch of racist, right wing extremists- like the ones featured in this episode of Gangland.

Anti-Tea Party propaganda or innocent (and really poor) editorial decision?
